Thank You for Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness
As a young woman, I took a brave step to take care of my health. In 1980, people did not discuss breast cancer. There was no Internet for researching. During personal trauma, women found themselves fearful and ill-prepared to talk to their doctors. The dark days of early detection turned into a life filled with hope because I dared to believe early detection could save lives.
My late husband, Neal, and I founded National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in 1991. Today, NBCF is headquartered in Frisco, and is a leading breast cancer organization in the world spreading hope to women and their families. Our resources, such as BeyondTheShock.com, shed the light of education on breast cancer so women will not have to live in fear of the unknown.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month to remind us that women should schedule their mammograms and remind us of those women who can only afford mammograms if we provide the funding.
Thank you, PlainsCapital Bank, for supporting some of our key initiatives. At the NBCF Women of Hope Luncheon in 2018, you helped us honor local women who impacted Frisco with their influence and stories of triumph. Your team of volunteers supported our organization by packing our Hope Kits for women going through breast cancer as we give practical and comforting gifts for their journey. One of your special employees, Angela Carmichael, is an advocate who helps NBCF to inspire hope for women as they face breast cancer.
The dream Neal and I had 27 years ago lives on through the generosity of partners like PlainsCapital. Today, over three million breast cancer survivors celebrate their lives.
