PlainsCapital Bank Presents Sponsorship Check to Dallas Heritage Village to Preserve History for Future Generations

PlainsCapital Bank recently presented Dallas Heritage Village with a $10,000 sponsorship check in support of their mission to collect, preserve and teach the history of Dallas and North Central Texas.

Nearly half of those who visit Dallas Heritage Village are school-age students who take field trips with their school. These sponsorship dollars support the salaries of the people who make these field trips possible—the reservations coordinator who works with teachers to book field trips, the education assistant who develops pre-visit packets and the guest services staff who work with students when they visit.

Located in historic Old City Park, Dallas Heritage Village uses its collections of historic buildings and furnishings, representing the period 1840-1910, to sponsor research, publications and exhibits, and to present educational programs and special events. This museum is home to the largest collection of 19th century pioneer and Victorian homes and commercial buildings in Texas. These buildings, moved from throughout North Central Texas to Dallas’ first city park, line the tree-shaded 20-acre setting of Dallas Heritage Village.

“For decades, sharing our past with area school children has been the most important part of Dallas Heritage Village’s mission,” said Dallas Heritage Village Associate Director Melissa Prycer. “Sponsorship dollars also help support incidental costs of the program, including printing the History Hunts that students use during their field trip, as well as the pencils they use to fill out their answers. This money also allows us to be generous with Title I schools, allowing them to pay half-price admission.”
