PlainsCapital Bank Lubbock’s “Feed the Bus” Drive Nets 1,602 Pounds of Food

PlainsCapital Bank Lubbock’s “Feed the Bus” food drive supporting the South Plains Food Bank collected 1,602 pounds of food since it began last Thursday. Food bank officials said Lubbock residents also donated $1,500 to the organization during the “Feed the Bus” campaign.

PlainsCapital Bank launched its “Feed the Bus” food drive on Aug. 9 in conjunction with the unveiling of its newest “Ride with the Good Guys” bus wrap. The bus wrap features Lubbock bankers Barry Ballinger, Joe May, Les Eubank, Wanda Parker, John Owens and Perry Tipton.

The Lubbock bank’s “Ride with the Good Guys” program is an ongoing effort to generate community support for local businesses but often includes a philanthropy component such as the recent food drive for the South Plains Food Bank.

On Monday, the Lubbock media turned out in force to see the PlainsCapital bankers deliver the food and monetary donations to the South Plains Food Bank. All three Lubbock TV stations covered the event resulting in sixteen mentions on Monday, Aug. 13 and Tuesday, Aug. 14.

“When it comes to supporting community organizations in Lubbock, PlainsCapital is a big player,” said John Owens, PlainsCapital Bank West Texas Region Chairman. “We appreciate the support we receive from the Lubbock community, and always like to return the favor whenever we can.”
