PlainsCapital Bank Celebrates the Grand Opening of Lubbock ISD's New Sports Complex, PlainsCapital Park
PlainsCapital Bank celebrated the grand opening of Lubbock ISD’s new sports complex, PlainsCapital Park, during a private event on August 23 and a public event on August 25. To show their gratitude for the Bank’s monetary donation and continued support of their programs, Lubbock ISD hosted a private open house event for PlainsCapital Bank executives, board members, employees and their families. The VIP event featured hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and tours of PlainsCapital Park.
Nearly 1,000 people attended the public event on August 25 to celebrate the completion of Lubbock ISD’s largest athletic complex. Event activities
included self-guided tours of the new sports facilities, marching bands
and choir performances and appearances by Lubbock ISD’s football teams and cheerleaders.
In May 2012, PlainsCapital Bank announced a donation to Lubbock
ISD as part of a sponsorship agreement which included naming rights
for the new sports complex. The funds were used to support academic,
fine arts and athletic enhancements throughout the district.
Improvements included new document cameras, projectors and
interactive white boards for teachers in core classes and a new
scoreboard and updated signage for the football stadium.
“PlainsCapital Bank is proud to support Lubbock ISD and their continued initiatives to improve education, athletics and fine arts programs for students throughout the school district,” said John Owens, West Texas region chairman of PlainsCapital Bank. “PlainsCapital Park represents a valued community partnership between the Bank and Lubbock ISD and we are honored to associate our name with this new sports complex.”
PlainsCapital Park will host middle and high school football, baseball, softball, track and UIL marching band events beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.
