PlainsCapital Bank Barbecue Teams Cook Up Fun to Support Local Charities
Some of PlainsCapital Bank’s finest bankers and pit masters from around the state gathered to take part in the company’s inaugural barbecue cook-off competition, the 2015 PlainsCapital Bank Throwdown, held August 27 and 28 at Middle Ground Ranch in Hext, Texas. Eight teams representing Austin, the Coastal Bend, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio competed for fun, bragging rights and $15,000 in prize money benefitting the charities of their choice. The teams competed in three categories: brisket, ribs and sauce.
Earning first place overall and the $10,000 grand prize was the PlainsCapital Bank Austin team “Sauced Up” benefitting Austin Sunshine Camps (pictured).
“We had a lot of fun, not to mention some seriously competitive cookers on our team,” said Shaun Tuggle, PlainsCapital Bank Round Rock President and Austin team captain. “We also knew winning the grand prize meant being able to give our designated charity, Austin Sunshine Camps, a check for $10,000 - money that could go a long way in helping a lot of kids.”
Second place overall and $5,000 in charitable prize money went to the “Dallas Cooking Cowboys,” benefitting the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.
