PlainsCapital Bank Announces Executive Promotions For West Texas Market

In a move to further enhance PlainsCapital Bank’s position as Lubbock’s leading retail and commercial bank, John Owens, PlainsCapital Bank West Texas Region Chairman, announced today the election of Les Eubank to West Texas Region Vice Chairman and Barry Ballinger to Lubbock President. Owens will continue in his current role as West Texas Region Chairman.

“Les and Barry bring a wealth of experience to their new roles,” said Owens. “Their leadership will be invaluable as we work toward continued growth well into the future.”

Eubank, a 42-year veteran of the banking industry, joined PlainsCapital Bank in 1993 (then Plains National Bank). He was named Lubbock president in 2007.  Under his leadership, the Lubbock bank experienced steady growth in both the commercial and retail sides of the business. In his new role as vice chairman, he will continue as chief lending officer for the West Texas region. Eubank is a lifelong resident of Lubbock and a board of directors member for the Children’s Home of Lubbock Foundation, Texas Boys Ranch Foundation, Lubbock Methodist Hospital System and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.

“Les has done an amazing job steering PlainsCapital’s steady expansion in Lubbock,” said Owens. “He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to Lubbock businesses and has helped build strong, experienced teams that have allowed PlainsCapital Bank to continue its growth in the West Texas region.”

Ballinger’s career in the Lubbock banking community spans 38 years. He started with PlainsCapital Bank (then Plains National Bank) in 1977.  He has held numerous positions with the company, most recently serving as executive vice president and head of commercial lending. In his new role as president, he will oversee PlainsCapital Bank’s Lubbock market. Ballinger is a board of directors member and president of Caprock Business Finance Corp. and a past president of the American Business Club. He is also past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Lubbock.

“I’m confident Barry’s experience and leadership skills will build on our successful PlainsCapital Bank legacy,” said Owens.

Both Eubank and Ballinger are graduates of Texas Tech University and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Additionally, Ballinger is a graduate of Texas Tech’s School of Banking and the University of Oklahoma’s ABA National Commercial Lending program.
