PlainsCapital Bank and Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas Kick Off Financial Literacy Poster Contest During America Saves Week
In conjunction with America Saves Week, PlainsCapital Bank and Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS) have partnered to host the 2013 financial literacy poster contest for students in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock and San Antonio.
Started in 2007 by America Saves and the American Savings Education Council, this week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status.
This year’s contest theme, “Saving for Success!” promotes personal finance topics such as budgeting and saving to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Participants are encouraged to artistically convey their definition of “success” and how they plan to reach their goals by saving and making wise financial decisions. The contest offers a fun and creative way for students to explore financial literacy, while teaching them the importance of developing responsible financial management plans for the future.
In April, a judging panel will choose one winner from each grade category (elementary, middle and high school) in the five participating cities. All winners will be eligible to schedule an awards presentation at their school and will be invited to attend an awards presentation at their local PlainsCapital Bank branch. In addition, a $100 prize will be awarded to each winner and their corresponding teacher.
Last year’s poster contest theme, “Winning the Money Game!” received more than 180 entries by students statewide. This year’s entries will be due by Thursday, April 11 and winners will be announced in April which is Financial Literacy Month.
