FirstSouthwest Expands Nationwide Presence with New Cincinnati Office

Dallas-based diversified investment bank FirstSouthwest, which has served as financial advisor on more bond and note transactions in the past 10 years than any other firm, ranking No. 1 nationally for nine of the past 10 years according to Ipreo MuniAnalytics, has expanded its nationwide presence with the opening of a new office in Cincinnati temporarily located at 312 Walnut Street, Suite 1600. Later this year, FirstSouthwest will move to their permanent location at 525 Vine Street, Suite 2325.

In addition to public finance advisory and underwriting, the Firm also offers professional experience in asset management, capital markets, corporate finance and correspondent clearing. Known as a leader in public finance, FirstSouthwest takes a client-focused team approach to capital financing advisory service. This begins at the preliminary strategic stages of preparation for capital projects and continues with market leading advisory service for structuring, pricing and closing financing transactions. FirstSouthwest currently serves more than 1,600 public finance clients.

Richard Hatton joined FirstSouthwest in February 2013 and manages the Cincinnati office in his role as senior vice president. He has more than 12 years of experience in municipal finance and has assisted clients with financings in excess of $50 billion in par amount. His responsibilities have included providing municipal product and structuring and strategic solutions for issuers across national sectors such as general infrastructure, higher education, healthcare, housing and public power. Richard is a FINRA registered securities representative, currently holding Series 7, 53 and 63 licenses. He graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University with a B.S.B.A. in finance and accounting and earned his MBA with a concentration in finance from Miami University. He also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.

Accompanying Richard on the banking side are Senior Vice President John Lee and Analyst Robert Spoor. John has more than 40 years of public finance industry experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree and MBA from The Ohio State University and carries Series 52, 53 and 63 licenses. Robert is a recent graduate of Thomas More College and provides day-to-day support for senior bankers.

Senior Vice President Bruce Chaiken joins the Cincinnati office as a member of FirstSouthwest’s municipal institutional sales desk. After 10 years with a buy-side firm, Bruce joined Cincinnati- based Seasongood & Mayer in 1996, becoming a principal in 2001, and has 26 years of industry experience. Bruce is a FINRA registered securities representative, currently holding Series 7 and 63 licenses. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1987.
