FirstSouthwest's Michael Marz Named Chairman of the Bond Dealers of America

March 3, 2011—During its quarterly meeting in early February, the Bond Dealers of America’s board of directors elected Michael Marz as chairman. Marz, vice chairman of FirstSouthwest, has been a member of the Bond Dealers of America (BDA) since 2008. The BDA is a Washington, D.C.-based organization that represents securities dealers and banks predominantly focused on the U.S. fixed income markets.

“I look forward to helping lead the Bond Dealers of America in its goal of promoting public policies and market practices that improve the environment for fixed income securities,” said Marz.

The BDA is focused on the unique business, market practice, regulatory, and legislative interests of middle market, sell-side, fixed income dealers. This group of firms, along with staff based in Washington, D.C., lobbies on federal legislative and regulatory issues while simultaneously offering programming and publications dedicated to this demographic of securities dealer.

In addition to federal advocacy, the BDA hosts a series of meetings and conferences specific to domestic fixed income. It also conducts economic and annual compensation surveys.
