Loan Assistant I
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Position Summary: Assists the Loan Officers in approving and servicing commercial, small business, agricultural, or other applicable loans for corporations and other applicable businesses. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and administering deposit relationships and soliciting business through contacts with companies established within the appropriate industry being served.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works with the Lenders in reviewing loan requests and associated financial data to determine whether the loan is within acceptable bank risk standards and in keeping with loan policy. Approves or disapproves loans based on credit information provided as directed by the Loan Officers. Works with the Officers in structuring loans with appropriate collateral and sound repayment terms. Evaluates risk and reviews the compensating demand deposit balances of each loan customer in order to properly price loan to meet profitability standards.
- The incumbent may be accountable for making business development calls to expand existing loan and deposit relationships or to solicit new ones. Prepares a written call report on each call.
- Obtain collateral documents to be utilized as security on loans. Delivers completed collateral packages to collateral department and assists collateral department in correcting ongoing collateral deficiencies. Works with the Loan Officers in approving the release, substitution or collateral in accordance with loan policy.
- Reviews demand deposit profitability analysis and outlines strategies to bring unprofitable accounts back to profitable status.
- Works with borrowing customers to procure updated financial information on an ongoing basis.
- Works with Loan Analysis Department in developing analytical work-ups on credits.
- Prepares expense account reimbursement forms as necessary.
- Strives to maintain a professional level of competence through continuing education and ongoing monitoring of developments in the financial market place.
- Reviews note instruments for proper completion and accuracy.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma; Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred
- 1 to 3 years of experience in related field of expertise
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
